"What exactly do you do?"
We help you organize step by step through the entire process. We look at the area that needs to be organized, discuss best options for the space, coach you through the weed-out process, organize and find optimal places for your belongings.
"How long will my organizing project take?"
Every project is unique, and every client is unique. Our job is to keep you on task working at a comfortable pace. Generally, in three to four hours we can complete a small space such as a closet, laundry room, or entryway. With large organizing projects, we offer to give you “homework” to work on in-between sessions to help you move forward at a pace and budget that is comfortable to you. Some clients simply need someone to help them get started, and then finish the jobs themselves. Others prefer to work with the organizer from start to finish.
"How much will my project cost?"
We cannot give estimates on how much a project will cost because there are so many variables. Every project and every client is unique and has different needs and expectations. We charge by the hour and after your first session, you have a good indicator of the pace of the organizing. The reason we cannot determine how long a project will take is because some people can quickly eliminate and accept change, while others save and make decisions about each item looking for direction on what to do. Some move quickly, others do not. Our goal is to coach you at a pace that is comfortable for you.
"What if I feel embarrassed at my mess?"
Don’t feel bad! Professional organizers don’t judge — they’re here to help you! And all services provided by Just Declutter are confidential. We also abide by the Professional Organizers of Cananda Code of Ethics. This Code of Ethics is a set of principles to provide guidelines in our professional conduct with our clients, colleagues, and community. As a member of the Professional Organizers of Canada, I pledge to exercise judgment, self-restraint, and conscience in my conduct in order to establish and maintain public confidence in the integrity of POC members and to preserve and encourage fair and equitable practices among all who are engaged in the profession of organizing.
"My whole house needs organizing - where do we start?"
Each client is unique; this might depend on where you feel the most stress, the area that looks the worst, or the area that is most critical to your family or office functioning. For example, while the kids’ playroom might look the worst, the kitchen might need to come first if it is the epicentre of your family; if you eat, talk, pay bills, sort mail, and do schoolwork in the kitchen, it’s a room that needs to be functional immediately! For those who can’t fit a car in the garage due to all that clutter, we might start there. If your bedroom leaves you feeling stressed rather than rested, this may be the place to dig in. Just Declutter will help you determine where to start if you are unsure.
"I'm moving and/or want to have an estate/auction sale... how can you help?"
Prior to your move or auction, we can help you weed through and purge, so that you are not moving things unnecessarily, or selling prized possessions that you do not want sold. On moving day, we can be there to assist the moving company, insuring that the boxes get into the right rooms. Once unloaded, we will unpack and organize all of the boxes in your new home. From setting up the kitchen, to making the beds and organizing the attic. Our unpacking services eliminate the stress of moving and help you start off optimally organized in your new surroundings. If you are wanting an auction we can organize and categorize your items for you to get ready for cataloging for the auctioneer.
"Do I have to be present when the organizer is working?"
We believe you are best served by being present (or at least available) during the organizing session. During the weed-out process, the client must be there to make decisions. We do not eliminate anything without the client’s consent. After the weed-out stage, the organizer is able to work independently.
"Do you service my area?"
We service all of the city of Calgary as well as Strathmore and the rural areas within an approximate 40 km radius. If you live beyond this radius, travel charges may be incurred. Our travel charge is 1/2 of the hourly rate for every hour of driving.
"How are the services billed?"
Just Declutter offers two ways to purchase organizing services: single-session and multi-session packages, generally with a three-hour minimum per session. In three hours, we can make huge improvements in your troubled space! The value you receive is immeasurable. We provide peace of mind and add value to your life by coaching you to an organized life. You receive custom one-on-one time with us, in the privacy of your own home or office. We are the personal trainer for your brain! We accept cash or e-transfer.
"Can I give the gift of organizing to my spouse, parent, or friend?"
Sure, but make sure that it’s really a gift for them, rather than yourself! Organizing sessions will only be productive if the client is receptive, motivated, and ready to get organized.
